Jenny Hval annoncerer nyt album The Practice of Love

Norske Jenny Hval annoncerer hendes nye album The Practice of Love, det udkommer den 13. september på Sacred Bones / Playground Music i Norden. I forbindelse med albumannonceringen, præsenterer hun også albummets lead single ’Ashes To Ashes’. Lyt til singlen her.

The Practice of Love ser verdenen oppefra og skaber et landskab der både er realistisk og imaginært. Gennem dette landskab høre vi flere forskellige stemmer sprede sig, både Hvals egen stemme, men også stemmerne fra gæster som Vivian Wang, Laura Jean Englert, og Félicia Atkinson.
 
Hval forklare stemmerne som: ”the voice of someone who was once an angry teenager, furious at the hierarchies, many years later. No longer angry, but still feeling apart from the mainstream... longing for community. I wanted to give the feeling of being apart from the world a mystical, but beautiful place, meaning pop songs... A place that also contains enough depth to bury oneself in.”
 
Titlen The Practice of Love er i en hvis grad inspireret af Valie Exports 1985 film af samme navn. Lyrisk er de otte numre tættere på et poetisk formsprog i forhold til hendes hendes tidligere værker, hvilket også kan ses på albummets liner-noter, der minder om en poesi scrapbook. ​
