John Moreland signer med 4AD- udgiver sit nye album Big Bad Luv 5. Maj
Big Bad Luv er titlen på John Moreland nye album, der samtidig er hans debut på 4AD. Albummet udkommer 5. maj i år og allerede nu kan første nummer fra albummet ”It don’t Suit Me (Like before)” høres HER.
Historien om John Morelands musikalske baggrund startede da han, 10-år gammel, flyttede fra Kentucky til Tulsa. Her begyndte Moreland at spille hardcore og punk op gennem high school indtil han for alvor fandt folk- og countrymusikken. “I was 19 in 2004, and Steve Earle had put out The Revolution Starts Now, and I remember hearing the song ‘Rich Man’s War’ and totally feeling like somebody just punched me in the chest”.
Siden 2011 har Moreland selvproduceret og udgivet albums. Og simpelthen ved at spille live og via word-of-mouth, lykkedes det ham i 2016, at komme på Colbert talkshowet og spille.
Big Bad Luv er Morelands fjerde album og det første med 4AD i ryggen. Albummet er indspillet i Little Rock, AK, med Morelands gamle venner fra Tulsa. Albummet er mixet af den GRAMMY-vindende Tchad Blake, som tidligere bl.a. har arbejdet med ikoniske stjerner som Al Green og Tom Waits.
Adspurgt om det kommende album er mere positivt end de foregående siger Moreland “I don't think I'm writing songs that are that much different. It's always been a positive thing at heart, even if a song isn't sunshine and rainbows. At the very least my songs have been a way to exorcise negative feelings so that I can move on. And hopefully they provide that same experience to listeners. So that's what I'm still doing. I think it's a positive thing. I think this record, there's definitely a change in attitude, but it's the same point of view.””
