Anna Calvi løfter sløret for soundtracket Peaky Blinders: Season 5 & 6 (Original score) - ude d. 26. januar 2024
Anna Calvi har skrevet og opført musikken til sæson 5 og 6 af BBC One-serien Peaky Blinders, og hendes fængende og stemningsfyldte sange bliver nu udgivet for første gang som fuldt soundtrack. Det sker d. 26. januar 2024 på Domino / Playground Music.
Peaky Blinders: Season 5 & 6 (Original Score) består af 37 tracks, der fungerer som og giver musikalsk samspil til de forskellige medlemmer af The Shelby Company Limited, såvel som karakterer som Oswald Mosley. Albummet indeholder desuden også de tidligere udgivne originalsange ’You’re Not God’, ’Ain’t No Grave’ samt Calvis cover af ’Red Right Hans’, temasangen skrevet af Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
Om sit arbejde på soundtracket fortæller Anna Calvi:
”Composing for Peaky Blinders was about atmosphere and space. There’s so much nuance when it comes to scoring to picture. It’s more about what you leave out than what you leave in. I had to let the voice of the actors do the talking but find ways of bringing out the emotion within that. I became completely obsessed with Tommy Shelby, I dreamt about him every night whilst I was working on the scores, I had to really inhabit the show.”
Efter oprindeligt at være blevet bedt om at komponere soundtracket til sæson 5 i 2019, blev Anna Calvis imponerende arbejde et perfekt match for serien, hvilket førte til, at Calvi igen blev udpeget til også at komponere lyden til seriens sidste sæson. Calvi uddyber: “There is a duality to the show, of beauty and brutality, which I had been exploring in my own music. I’m fascinated by the manipulation of emotions with sound, it’s so mysterious. I really tried to explore this with Peaky Blinders, sometimes putting the opposite music than you would expect on a scene had the most impact.”
