Hayden Thorpe, fra Wild Beasts, annoncerer solodebut med ny single og video
Hayden Thorpe, fra det nu opløste band Wild Beasts, kan i dag annoncere udgivelsen af sit solo-debutalbum Diviner, der udkommer den 24. maj på Domino Recordings / Playground Music i Norden.
Diviner er skrevet både i Californien, Cornwall samt i Thorpes eget hjem i London. Det er et emotionelt album, som musikalsk og lyrisk ligger langt fra Hayden Thorpes tidligere arbejde med Wild Beasts. Han fortæller:
“I broke up with myself. So this is a break-up album, but not about a relationship. It’s a break-up from a past self, it’s a breakup from the old idea of yourself and therefore every relationship, of all kinds, that you’ve ever had.”
“My adulthood was based on a certain belief system, a band, a family. When it shifted entirely, I had a ghost I had to find a new haunt for,” fortæller Thorpe og fortsætter: “I believe in the medicinal properties of songs. I believe in their healing properties,” he says. “Songs defy time, they don’t erode or denature, they come with you and reform anew in your mind as and when you need them.”
Sammen med annonceringen af det kommende album Diviner, udgiver Thorpe sin nye single ’Love Crimes’, der udkommer med en tilhørende musikvideo instrueret af Alexandra Liveris.
